Ave Verum Corpus Re-Imagined wins!

We are thrilled that Roderick Williams ORA Commission, 'Ave Verum Corpus Re-Imagined' has won the British Composer Award 2016 in the Choral Category. Williams' work was up against stiff competition, one of three finalists alongside James Macmillan's- 'Noli Pater', and Cecilia MacDowall's- ''When Time is Broke'.

Williams' reflection appears next to William Byrd's original on ORA's debut album 'Upheld by Stillness', released in February this 2016. The piece was commissioned by the very generous members of our ORA100 club, and we would like to thank these individuals for their involvement and support.

ORA's Artistic Director, Suzi Digby, says:

"We've been so delighted at the success of this work- it truly is a remarkable piece of music and Roddy deserves the recognition for his magnificent compositional skill, alongside his singing career! We've already seen other groups take up this work to perform and we receive requests all the time for copies of the score. This will truly go down as one of the iconic pieces of 21st century choral music..."
